Meeting Recap 01/16/20
 
The Rotary Club of Antelope Valley conducted their weekly meeting at J’s Hideaway in Rosamond on 16 January 2020.  The meeting was called to order by President Gene Melchers at 12:00 PM.  Those in attendance included Charlene Melchers, Chuck Church, Karen Schultz, Margarite Lite, Sharon Freeman and Don Ryan.  Everyone enjoyed lunch.  The formal meeting began after the Flag Salute, Invocation and 4-Way Test.  
 
President Gene Melchers asked everyone for updates on their projects:
 
  • Sharon Freeman indicated that she was proceeding with our budgeted plan to send two students to RYLA this year (one boy and one girl.)Sharon will be in contact with Joy McCall at Knight High School to identify two of our Interact Students to attend the camp.
 
  • Don Ryan reported that he had received the Lefler Grant check.It will be turned over to Tina Borzage for deposit.
 
  • Chuck Church reported that the paperwork had been finalized for our Los Angeles County Board of Supervisor’s Grant.The check should be in the mail within two weeks.The DDF Grant (which has been approved by the District) has not moved forward.The Club still needs to identify two Boy Scout Troops and two Girl Scout Troops to support.
 
  • Charlene Melchers indicated that all Monday Night Football Pool winners have been identified and their checks have been made out for distribution.
 
The next major event on the schedule is the AV Rotary Sheriff’s Appreciation Dinner on March 21, 2020 in Rosamond.  Preparations are underway for the event. 
 
The Sunday/Funday for Yellen School is tentatively scheduled for April 12, 2020 but is subject change at the current time.
 
Sharon Freeman mentioned that there have been two gift cards from the Children’s Shopping Spree that were blank.  Sharon will get the cards and return them to Chuck Church to be returned to Walmart and be replaced with valid cards. 
  
There was no additional business to discuss.
 
President Gene Melchers adjourned the meeting at 1:00 PM.
