Meeting Recap 01/23/19
The Rotary Club of Palmdale conducted their weekly meeting at Sizzler’s Restaurant in Palmdale on 23 January 2019. The meeting was called to order by President Sam Garcia at 6:30 PM. Members in attendance were Chuck Church, Janice Garcia, Sharon Freeman, Rosanna Budd, Vickie Ryan, Don Ryan and Sam Garcia. Everyone enjoyed dinner. The formal meeting began at 6:49 PM.
President Sam Garcia reviewed his weekly emails from the District Governor and District 5300. John Chase (District Governor) reiterated that the Rotary Year is half over and the Clubs need to be updating their data in DACdb (goals, accomplishments. etc.). Sam mentioned that Chuck Church had loaded an update on the Merger Meeting (01/02/19) in the Club website.
The RYLA deadline is February 1, 2019 for registering attendees. Our Club has prepared paperwork for registering our two attendees. The paperwork will be submitted before the deadline.
Sharon Freeman attended the Interact Club meeting this week at Knight High School. They currently have 20 members. Sharon dropped off the new Tee Shirts for the Club and asked them to provide us with a dollar amount that they could contribute toward the shirts. Chuck has already paid for the shirts and is waiting for reimbursement. Sharon reminded them to take photos of the events they conduct and do a small write up of the event so that we could post the article and pictures on our website.
The new Club will continue to meet on Wednesdays. Gene and Charlene have indicated that they want to have a Club Meeting in the Rosamond area the first week in February. The remaining meetings would be held in Palmdale.
Vickie and Don Ryan briefed the Club on their upcoming Sunday Funday event on April 14, 2019 at the Country Club in support of the Yellen School. In the past the event has raised several thousand dollars to purchase school supplies that the school desperately needs to function successfully and provide support for the students. Don and Vickie passed out flyers and are looking for donations (money, baskets or prizes) to be used in the raffle.
