Meeting Recap 02/13/20
 
The Rotary Club of Antelope Valley conducted their weekly meeting at J’s Hideaway in Rosamond on 13 February 2020.  The meeting was called to order by President Gene Melchers at 12:15 PM.  Those in attendance included Charlene Melchers, Chuck Church, Karen Schultz, Margarite Lite, Don Ryan and Gene Melchers.  Everyone enjoyed lunch.  The formal meeting began after the Flag Salute, Invocation and 4-Way Test.  
 
President Gene Melchers asked everyone for updates on their projects:
  • Margarite Lite reported that the Club is changing the date of the Sheriff’s Appreciation Dinner from 21 March to 04 April.  The change was needed to ensure the availability of the venue in Rosamond.
 
  • Don Ryan reported that he and Vickie had mailed out 100 flyers to the Palmdale Chamber for the Hey Day in May event.  They will send out 100 more copies of the flyer to the Lancaster Chamber on Friday.  They plan to send out 200 more flyers the next week.
     
  • Chuck Church reported that the Final Report for the Children’s Shopping Spree had been submitted to the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors.  The DDF Grant (which has been approved by the District) has not moved forward.The Club still needs to identify two Boy Scout Troops and two Girl Scout Troops to support.
  • Charlene Melchers indicated that the Club will purchase on ticket for the Lancaster Reverse Auction.  In addition, 10 Members will also buy one ticket for the Reverse Auction.
The next major event on the schedule is the AV Rotary Sheriff’s Appreciation Dinner on April 4, 2020 in Rosamond.  Preparations are underway for the event. 
 
The Hey Day in May event for Yellen School is tentatively scheduled for April 12, 2020 but is subject change at the current time.
 
There was no additional business to discuss.
 
President Gene Melchers adjourned the meeting at 12:52 PM.
