Meeting Recap 06/28/17

The Rotary Club of Palmdale conducted their weekly meeting at Sizzler’s Restaurant in Palmdale on 28 June 2017.  The meeting was called to order by President Chuck Church at 6:40 PM.  Members in attendance were: Tina Borzage, Sharon Freeman, David Maddock, Sam Garcia, Janice Garcia and Chuck Church.  Everyone enjoyed dinner.  The formal meeting began at 6:45.

The first order of business was to get everyone’s input on the Demotion Party.  Everyone had a great time.  The food was fantastic and Olaf Lansgard’s singing and guitar playing was thoroughly entertaining.  Everyone sang along with the songs we all knew until it was time for dessert.  Sam presented Chuck with a plaque as outgoing president and spoke for the rest of the club thanking Chuck for his work this past year.  Chuck also received a Certificate of Recognition from Supervisor Kathryn Barger for his work in 2016-2017.  Field Representative Donna Termeer presented the certificate for Supervisor Barger.  Sam addressed the club and again reminded everyone that Membership is a major goal for 2017-2018.  Chuck spoke briefly about the past year and the successful things the Club has accomplished.  He then presented Certificates of Appreciation and gifts to Sam, Janice, Sharon, Tina, and David for their work in 2016-2017.

The next item on the agenda was to re-establish where we are on the County Grant request.  Chuck asked David and Tina to provide date that he could take to Donna Termeer at the County Supervisor’s Office to that we could resolve the issue once and for all.

Old Business:
    There was no Old Business

New Business:
Sam again spoke of his vision for the future of the Club.  He indicated that we need
to get Palmdale Businesses involved in supporting Rotary in order to help their
businesses thrive and help our Club grow.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:40 PM.
