Meeting Recap 07/19/17
The Rotary Club of Palmdale conducted their weekly meeting at Sizzler’s Restaurant in Palmdale on 19 July 2017. The meeting was called to order by President Sam Garcia at 6:32 PM. Members in attendance were: Sharon Freeman, David Maddock, Yolanda Risch, Sam Garcia, Janice Garcia and Chuck Church. Everyone enjoyed dinner. The formal meeting began at 7:00.
The first order of business was to discuss the status of the County Grant request. Tina Borzage was not in attendance at the meeting, so discussion was postponed until next week.
The second item of business was to confirm and approve the flyers and tickets for the Oktoberfest. Most members had provided their approval on line. Sharon Freeman authorized Mike to proceed with printing the flyers and tickets.
Although Tina was not in attendance, she sent everyone a message indicating that she had received invoices for the first half of the Rotary year and that she would email copies of the invoices to the members. She also indicated that she was still working with Veronica Jordan at Walmart to obtain approval of our Walmart Grant request.
Sam opened discussion on our bonus raffle prize for Oktoberfest. He suggested that after the winner of the raffle had selected the game of their choice, that we hold an additional raffle for the remaining game. This would be for folks in attendance who were not able to purchase one of the 50 available tickets. The price would be the same ($25) and we would have an additional 50 tickets available. Everyone like the idea. Next week the Club will vote on the 2nd bonus raffle and a $500 reimbursement for Sam on the 2nd pair of tickets.
Old Business:
The Club discussed purchasing instruments for the music classes at Antelope
Elementary School. We recommended that Sharon contact Bobby Oh and let him
determine what instruments are in greatest need. The Club will proceed when
Sharon gets an answer from Bobby Oh.
