Meeting Recap 08/15/18
The Rotary Club of Palmdale conducted their weekly meeting at Sizzler’s Restaurant in Palmdale on 15 August 2018. The meeting was called to order by President Sam Garcia at 6:40 PM. Members in attendance were Chuck Church, Janice Garcia, Sharon Freeman, Tina Borzage, Yolanda Risch and Sam Garcia. The formal meeting began at 7:00 PM.
Sharon Freeman presented an update on Oktoberfest. To rent a van for this year’s Oktoberfest it will cost $106 plus insurance of $27 plus tax. There will be no tax due if we provide a letter stating that we are a non-profit organization. Lancaster West Rotary has shown an interest in attending again this year. We told them we would need a count by 31 August 2018. Sharon spoke to the Interact Club. Their first meeting of the school year is next week. Sharon will try to attend. Our Club Members are still working on selling tickets for the Oktoberfest and special raffle. The event is scheduled for September 22, 2018 at Hacienda Lane Ranch.
President Sam Garcia covered weekly emails. There has been no follow up to our response to the District regarding the billing for the Hospitality Suite at the District Convention. Our position still remains that since no one from the Club was attending, we would not owe anything.
