Meeting Recap 03/04/20
 
The Rotary Club of Antelope Valley conducted their monthly Board meeting at Gino’s Italian Restaurant in Palmdale on 4 March 2020.  The meeting was called to order by President Gene Melchers at 6:30 PM.  Members in attendance were Sam Garcia, Janice Garcia, Chuck Church, Tina Borzage, Sharon Freeman, Vickie Ryan, Don Ryan, guests Rory Larsen and Lorraine Schaumburg and Gene Melchers.  Full details of the meeting will be presented at next month’s Board meeting when the minutes are read and approved.  Everyone enjoyed dinner.  The formal meeting began at 7:00 PM after the Flag Salute, Invocation and 4-Way Test. 
 
Secretary Sharon Freeman read the Minutes from the February Board meeting.  A motion was made and seconded to approve the Minutes of February 5, 2020.  The Minutes were approved.
 
Tina Borzage presented the Treasurer’s reports for the month of February.  A motion was made and seconded to approve the Treasurer’s report for February 2020.  The Report was approved.     
 
Old Business:
 
Sharon Freeman brought up the subject of removing three Members of our Club due to lack of payment, attendance and/or activity.  After a discussion it was decided to approach each Member individually and determine if they wanted to remain on the active roster or be removed. 
 
Don Ryan reported that two Bubble Parties have been scheduled for elementary schools in the area.  The date and location for the second set of Bubble Parties has not yet been determined.  The Club is checking on Keppel School District and Ocotillo Elementary School as the second two locations.  Don Ryan and Vickie Ryan are continuing to work the Yellen School project.  The auction this year will be Hey Day in May and is scheduled for May 16, 2020 at the Hilton Garden Inn.  Setup will start at 9:30 AM and the auction will run from 11:30 to 3:00. 
 
Gene Melchers reported that the First Responder's Appreciation Dinner (formerly Sheriff’s Appreciation Dinner) is on track for April 4, 2020.  Sponsors are being solicited for the event.
 
Don Ryan made a motion to donate $250 to the Sophia Elizabeth Foundation.  The motion was seconded and approved.
 
Dates to Remember: First Responder’s Appreciation Dinner – April 4, District Assembly – May 1,2,3, and Hey Day in May – May 16.
 
There was no additional business.
