Meeting Recap 03/28/18

The Rotary Club of Palmdale conducted their weekly meeting at Sizzler’s Restaurant in Palmdale on 28 March 2018.  The meeting was called to order by President Sam Garcia at 6:30 PM.  Members in attendance were: Janice Garcia, Sharon Freeman, Chuck Church, David Maddock, guest Natalie Ortega and Sam Garcia.  Everyone enjoyed dinner.  The formal meeting began at 6:40.

The focus of the evening’s meeting was for Natalie to discuss her experience at RYLA Camp.  After introducing herself to the Club, Natalie again thanked the Club for sponsoring her at the camp.  The camp was well attended and the campers were divided up into groups.  The groups worked together on projects over the weekend that helped bring them closer together and to work as a team.  The weather was rather chilly and there was snow.  As expected some campers were not prepared for snow and had to tough it out while outside.  In all, Natalie said that it was a very rewarding experience and that she made friends that she hoped would last a lifetime.

The next item of business was President Sam Garcia’s discussion of the weekly emails that our club has received.  District Conference will be held this year at the Queen Mary on May 18-20.  District Assembly will be on April 21, 2018 in Apple Valley again at Granite Hills High School.

The final item of discussion involved our upcoming Spring Blowout Sale at the Swap Meet.  The Sale is still on for April 15th at Four Points.  We will be unloading our goods for the sale on Saturday and setting up on Sunday morning.  Chuck will contact Joyce and get our exact location.
