Meeting Recap 05/01/19
The Rotary Club of Palmdale conducted their monthly Board meeting at Gino’s Italian Restaurant in Palmdale on 1 May 2019. The meeting was called to order by President Sam Garcia at 6:30 PM. Members in attendance were Janice Garcia, Sharon Freeman, Charlene Melchers, Gene Melchers, Chuck Church, Yolanda Risch and Sam Garcia. Full details of the meeting will be presented at next month’s Board meeting when the minutes are read and approved. Everyone enjoyed dinner. The formal meeting began at 6:50 PM.
Secretary Janice Garcia read the minutes from the April Board meeting. The Minutes were approved.
Chuck Church read the Treasurer’s Report prepared by Tina Borzage for month end April. The report was approved.
President Sam Garcia passed down information from weekly emails from District 5300 and the Governor. The main focus was on preparation for grants for 2019-2020. The minimum amount available to Clubs is $300. There is $70K available to share between 65 Clubs.
Sharon Freeman received an email from Learn4Life regarding the creation of an Interact Club. Sharon responded with basic information that the club is for students between 12 and 18 years of age and that a Teacher Liaison is required for certification. Our 2019 Oktoberfest is scheduled for 19 October at Hacienda Lane Ranch. Since it is later in the year than normal, we will most likely be moving up the start time for the event.
