Meeting Recap 06/20/18
The Rotary Club of Palmdale conducted their weekly meeting at Sizzler’s Restaurant in Palmdale on 20 May 2018. The meeting was called to order by Sam Garcia at 6:30 PM. Members in attendance were: Janice Garcia, Chuck Church, Tina Borzage, Sharon Freeman, Yolanda Risch, Roseanna Budd, guests Jake Zicklin and Jim Micelli and Sam Garcia. Everyone enjoyed dinner. The formal meeting began at 7:00 PM.
President Sam Garcia introduced guests Jake Zicklin (grandson) and longtime friend and Rotarian Jim Micelli from the Studio City Club. Members received an update on David Maddock. Dave is recovering at home. It is a slow process to regain his strength.
President Sam Garcia received a response from Lisa Eldridge and Pauline East regarding the Animal Shelter. They are both in favor of an event on August 18th. This is an adoption day at the Shelter and would be a good opportunity for our Club. However, our Club decided that with the Oktoberfest coming up it would be better to plan an event for us in the spring.
Sharon Freeman briefed the Club Members on the latest information regarding Oktoberfest. Tickets have been ordered for the event (150) priced at $35.00 each and for the Special Football Game Raffle (50) priced a $50.00 each. The Club discussed changing from roast pork to roast chicken for the event. The Band has been reserved for our September 22nd date.
Sam Garcia mentioned that he had submitted a budget of $1,500.00 for the Rotary Foundation in 2018-2019 and $500.00 for Polio Plus. Tina Borzage mentioned that both invoices had been paid for our Domain Name and Club Runner.
Old Business:
Under Old Business, President Sam Garcia reminded the Club Members that our new
District Governor John Chase will be visiting our Club on February 6, 2019.

New Business:
Under New Business, the Club decided to have the upcoming Board Meeting at Gino’s Italian
Restaurant if we could reserve the Godfather Room. The date was moved to July 11, 2018
due to the July 4th Holiday. Sam and Janice will see if they can reserve the room.
