Meeting Recap 07/18/19

The Rotary Club of Antelope Valley conducted their weekly meeting at J’s Hideaway in Rosamond on 18 July 2019.  The meeting was called to order by President Gene Melchers at 12:15 PM.  Those in attendance included Charlene Melchers, Janice Garcia, Sam Garcia, Chuck Church, Don Ryan, Vickie Ryan, Aurora Larsen, Karen Schultz, Margarite Lite, Pastor Dave Brown, Brandie Partello, Barbara Gaines, Lisa Aqenenni, Jack Miller and Gene Melchers.  Everyone enjoyed lunch.  The formal meeting began after the Flag Salute, Invocation and 4-Way Test.

President Gene Melchers had everyone in attendance introduce themselves.  President Melchers then introduced Jack Miller (President of the Rosamond Chamber of Commerce) to the audience.  Mr. Miller spoke to the attendees and talked about his job as Chamber of Commerce President.  He provided some background material on himself and then talked about his Chamber and its mission, projects, fundraisers and value to the community.

At the conclusion of President Miller’s presentation, the Club began business discussions.

The Club Charter party has moved from the Greenhouse Café to Gino’s in Palmdale due to the fact that the Greenhouse Café was already booked with multiple buffet dinners on July 31st.  Refer to the website calendar for time and address.

Brandie Partello mentioned that there will be a Quarter Auction this evening in Rosamond.  Entry is $2 and the auction will begin at 6:30 PM.  There will be lots of prizes and fun.

Gene Melchers is still working with a facilitator to set up planning session meetings for future short term and long-term plans for the Club.

Sam Garcia (Outgoing Palmdale President) presented Gene Melchers with his sixth Paul Harris Fellow pin.  This is a great honor that very few members attain and shows Gene’s dedication to Rotary and doing good in the community and the world.

Chuck Church and Sam Garcia will work on summarizing the final 2018-2019 goals and results for the Palmdale Club and submit the list to Charlene Melchers to load in DACdb.

There was no additional business to discuss.

President Gene Melchers adjourned the meeting at 1:55 PM.
