Meeting Recap 8/24/16
The Rotary Club of Palmdale conducted their weekly meeting at Sizzler’s in Palmdale on 24 August 2016. The meeting was called to order by President Chuck Church at 6:30 PM. Members in attendance were: Tina Borzage, David Maddock, Brandon Youngblood, Lori Troise and Chuck Church. Also in attendance was fellow Rotarian Jim Miceli from the Studio City Club. Jim was in the area on business and saw that our club met on Wednesday evenings and decided to join us. We welcomed Jim and proceeded with dinner.
Per the agenda, we checked the status of ticket sales for our upcoming Oktoberfest. Chuck shared half his tickets with Tina since she was on vacation when Sharon Freeman passed out the ticket packages. Chuck and Tina can back-fill the balance of their tickets when Sharon returns from vacation. Guest Jim Miceli purchased two special raffle drawing tickets. The Palmdale Chamber of Commerce graciously agreed to post our upcoming Oktoberfest and special drawing on their website and include the event in their weekly news blast to all Chamber members.
Brandon is trying to make contact with the new Community Relations representative at Northrop Grumman to explore the possibility of a joint project (more to follow).
The Club recommended October 12th as the best date for guest Wen Chen to visit the club and speak to our members. Chuck will confirm the date with Wen.
Since Wednesday, August 31st is a fifth Wednesday of the month, I asked the members if they wanted to meet that evening or wait until the Board Meeting the following week. The members decided to meet on the 31st. There was no Old Business or New Business. Again we thanked Jim for visiting our club. The meeting was adjourned at 7:55 PM.
