On March 18th Antelope Valley Rotary Club Members and friends attended a briefing at the Palmdale Water District on the new Water Purification System that is under construction. Palmdale Water District Assistant General Manager Scott Rogers addressed those in attendance on the Pure Water project that is coming to Palmdale.
The Pure Water AV Demonstration Facility broke ground in June 2024. The facility will demonstrate the technologies that will eventually be used to purify recycled water at the full-scale Advanced Water Purification Facility. Once operational, the PWD will conduct continuous testing at the Demonstration Facility for at least one year before seeking regulatory approval for the full-scale project.
The Advanced Water Purification Facility (AWPF) will utilize methods shown in the Demonstration Facility to produce 4.5 million gallons of purified water daily, enough to serve more than 14,500 homes annually.
Benefits of the project include: creating additional local water supplies, decreasing the dependency on imported water, replenishing groundwater basin, ensuring water quality, helping to address climate change, providing water to fuel economic growth, and creating local jobs.
