On February 8, 2025, Rotary District 5300 partnered with Grocery Outlet, Shelter Box, St. Vincent De Paul, The Red Cross, and other non-profit organizations to provide relief items for victims of the recent Altadena Fire.
The entire Grocery Outlet parking lot was filled with fresh produce, household items, baby food, toiletries, clothes, and other items for distribution to the fire victims. All Rotary Clubs from the area, including the AV Rotary Club from 60 miles away participated in the event. Tina Borzage and Hudson Horner participated from the AV Club. District Governor Mike Driebe, Governor Elect Designate Dennis Franklin, and District Foundation Chair Mark Mariscal all participated in the event from 7am to 4pm.
Out of town visitors Deb and Carl Vander Haar from South Dakota, who were visiting family, donated their entire day to helping the Altadena Fire Victims. They said, “It was rewarding to be part of such an important project.”
